For the past several months, various members of the American diplomatic mission have been giving presentations in a variety of educational institutions in several Ecuadorian cities, with the goal of promoting cultural exchange and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the U.S. and Ecuador. As part of this effort, a vice consul visited the Universidad Laica Vicente Rocafuerte (ULVR) and the Centro Ecuatoriano-Norteamericano (CEN) to talk about the American electoral process and interact with students from both institutions.
The diplomat gave a simplified explanation of the American electoral process to help the student understand how elements of U.S. culture have affected the political arena. The 450 students from the ULVR and the 250 students from the CEN were captivated by the subject because of its global importance, and they seized the opportunity learn more about the how the elections system works.
