New Digital Penal Processing System Inaugurated in Guayaquil

March 6, 2008

Consul General Douglas Griffiths during the inaugural ceremony

Consul General Douglas Griffiths attended the ceremony inaugurating the use of the Sistema Informático Procesal Penal del Ecuador (SIPPE) in the Guayas Judicial District.  SIPPE is the result of cooperation between the Consejo Nacional de la Judicatura, la Corte Suprema de Justicia and la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, with technical assistance from the U.S. Embassy in Quito.

SIPPE offers, for the first time in the history of the country, immediate information that judges and administrators of justice require in the performance of their duties.  This system has been exclusively developed by Ecuadorian legal and judicial experts and is already being used successfully in Zamora Chinchipe, Loja, Azuay and Cañar.
