Consul General Douglas Griffiths helped inaugurate the “Cava de Sucre” United States Agency for International development (USAID) supported conservation project on Isabela, the largest island in the Galapagos, on January 10.
The project’s goal is the ecological restoration of a six-hectare rainforest. USAID contributed by financing the acquisition of the property, the construction of infrastructure designing to promote ecotourism, the eradication of invading plants and reforestation with species native to the area.
