President George W. Bush nominated Heather M. Hodges as the new U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Ecuador. The current Ambassador, Linda Jewell, will remain in Ecuador until the end of July.
A career diplomat and member of the Senior Foreign Service, Ambassador-designate Hodges comes to Ecuador from Washington, D.C., where she currently serves as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of State’s Human Resources Office. Ms. Hodges’s previous positions in the State Department include U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldavia and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassies in Managua, Lima and Madrid. Ambassador Hodges was born in Cleveland, Ohio. She has an undergraduate degree from the St. Catherine’s College (Minnesota) and a master’s degree from New York University.
