For arrests, injury, serious illness, or death of an American citizen the Consulate can be reached 24 hours a day:

Business hours are from Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.* 
Mission Ecuador is closed for Ecuadorian and American holidays.

Due to the high volume of appointments, the best way to contact the US Consulate is via email at acsguayaquil@state.gov.  All non-emergency e-mails will be returned within 2 business days.

*Unless otherwise noted, Mission Ecuador is closed except for emergency services the third Thursday of every month. There are no routine appointments or passport/CRBA pick-up on those days. Exact dates for 2016 are May19; June 16; July 21; August 18; September 15; October 20; November 17; December 15
